We dig it, build it, and drain it right.
Once we have the deposit, we're there the next day. Our crew stays on your job every day until it's finished.
We build retaining walls with block, Versa-Lok, pressure-treated timber, and railroad ties. We also pour and repair concrete steps, patios, walkways, driveways, and pads. We provide the excavator or Bobcat each job calls for and handle the digging ourselves.
Water is what causes most walls to fail. We put clean crushed stone behind the wall, keep soil from clogging the drain, and compact the backfill in layers. When the site calls for a drain pipe, we give the water a place to go.
We also repair brickwork by grinding out failing mortar and packing in new mortar. For stamped and dyed decorative concrete, we work with a trusted partner we've known for years.

Walls and concrete we do

Retaining Walls
Block, Versa-Lok, pressure-treated or railroad tie. We grade the soil, put clean stone behind the wall, and give the water a way out.

Wall Repair And Rebuilds
A timber wall that's leaning or rotting usually comes out. We pull it, fix the grade, and rebuild in block so it stays put.

Steps And Landings
New concrete steps with the wall and railing to match. Built to the height you actually need.

Concrete Repair
We fix the broken tread instead of telling you to replace the whole run. Same for cracked walks and pads.

Drainage And Backfill
Clean stone behind the wall, soil kept out of it, and backfill compacted in layers. This is what keeps a wall standing.

Grading And Excavation
We bring the excavator or Bobcat the job calls for, dig the base, and set the grade so the finished job sheds water away from the house.
From a cracked step to a 90-foot wall, we price it straight and tell you what we find. Get a free estimate.
A good time to have us look
Soil or water pushing toward the house
If the yard is sending water at the foundation, you need a wall and a path for the water to leave.
A timber wall that leans or bulges
Ties rot from the back where you can't see it. By the time it leans, the back is gone.
A slab that cracked through or heaved
A surface crack can be sealed. A slab that's moved has a base problem, and we fix the base first.
Steps pulling away from the house
That gap is water getting under them. We look at what's under the steps before we patch the top.
We come out, look at the site, and tell you what the job is before anyone commits.
Block or timber?
Two ways most walls get built around here. What matters most is drainage and the base, not the material. Here's how they compare.
| Block (Versa-Lok) | Timber | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | More up front | Less up front |
| Lifespan | 50 years and up | 10 to 20 years |
| Drainage | Drains through the joints | Rots where it stays wet |
| Look | Cut stone look, many colors | Rustic, weathers grey |
| Repair | One unit at a time | Whole sections come out |
Timber is the cheapest way to build a wall and the most expensive way to build it twice. We'll price both if you want them.
Wall and concrete questions, answered
Sometimes. Taller walls, and any wall holding up a driveway, a building or a steep slope, get looked at for permits and engineering before we quote. We handle that part.
It depends on length, height, material and how much digging. We come out, measure, and put a number in writing. Timber costs the least up front and block costs more, and we'll tell you why.
Clean crushed stone behind the wall, soil kept out of it, backfill compacted in layers, and a drain pipe with an outlet where the site needs one. Water is what pushes walls over, so this is not optional on our jobs.
Sometimes. Block walls can be repaired one unit at a time. Timber walls that are leaning usually come out, because the rot is in the back where you can't see it.
Walk on it in a day or two. Drive on it in about a week. Full strength takes about a month.
Walls, yes, as long as the ground isn't frozen. Concrete pours wait for weather above freezing.
